Community Outreach Program

Minneapolis Division employees actively assist in many programs that benefit surrounding communities.  The mission of the FBI's Community Outreach Program (COP) is to provide a comprehensive program which deals with multiple interrelated societal problems, including crime, drugs, gangs, and violence, while supporting the FBI's investigative mission.

The COP Specialist's responsibility is to create and assist crime, drug, gang, and violence prevention and education programs to meet the needs of the community.  The FBI Minneapolis Division's Specialist and other FBI personnel make presentations, distribute resource materials, and participate in anti-crime projects within schools, civic, professional, and work-related organizations.

The Minneapolis Community Outreach Program also serves to:

- foster appropriate communication between the FBI's law enforcement and prevention initiatives;

- establish a network of resources throughout the area, disseminate prevention materials, facilitate prevention programs, speeches, events, etc;

- coordinate the development and growth of the FBI's  national partnerships at  the local level;

- educate the community about the mission of the FBI; and

- complement the services of the Victim/Witness Assistance Program (VWAP).

It is recommended that students check the pertinent areas of the website regarding career and general information about the FBI before contacting the Minneapolis Division for information to complete a school project. Please understand that we may not be able to personally respond to all letters and email sent to the Minneapolis Division.

Recent Efforts:

The Minneapolis Division Community Outreach Program has successfully initiated a number of programs during the last year. We have created a Child Safety and Identification Kit, to include safety instructions, child description information, and fingerprinting kit that can be used in the event of an emergency: such as a missing child, abductions, and parental kidnapping. These kits can be requested by schools, businesses and parents to take preventative measures in keeping their children safe.

Each month, the Minneapolis Division receives hundreds of requests for information, speeches and presentations, regarding Terrorism, Crimes Against Children, Internet Safety, Identity Theft, and International/Domestic Security, (just to name a few). The Minneapolis Division continues to address and respond to these requests as often as possible to ensure that the public has the information necessary to feel prepared and safe during these trying times in our lives.

The Community Outreach Program was designed to create a link between the public and Federal Law Enforcement that would enable all individuals the same access to information regarding safety issues and crime statistics, and ensure that all individuals have the resources available to them at all times.

The Minneapolis Division has established this website to help you find the information you are looking for.

Speakers Bureau

The Minneapolis FBI Division may be able to furnish a speaker to your educational, civic, or workplace-based organization upon receiving a written request.  We ask that a request be made in writing to Special Agent in Charge Ralph S. Boelter, at 111 Washington Avenue South, Suite 1100, Minneapolis, MN, 55401, at least four weeks before your intended date. The topic must be related to matters under FBI jurisdiction.  The request should include times and two to three dates if possible.  Every effort will be made to honor such a  request, although there may be occasions when investigative needs may dictate otherwise.
