Man pleads guilty to Violating Airport Security

August 9, 2006

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on August 8, 2006, John Ashley, of Rapid City, was sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Marshall P. Young to a $2,500 fine and a $25 victims' assessment. Ashley, 57, was originally charged with Entering Airport Area in Violation of Security Requirements in May, 2006, following an investigation conducted by the Rapid City Fire Department, Airport Operations, the Rapid City Police Department and the FBI. The charge stems from an incident occurring on March 13, 2006, when Ashley intentionally entered an area of airport security in violation of security requirements. On August 8, 2006, Ashley pled guilty to this charge. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert A. Mandel.
