United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on December 11,
2006, Janine Cottier, age 23, of Pine Ridge was sentenced by U.S. District Judge
Karen E. Schreier to 120 months imprisonment, five years supervised release,
and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim's Assistance Fund. Cottier was originally
indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2006 for conspiracy to distribute cocaine
following an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The charges relate to a drug conspiracy,
involving others, between late 2002 and early 2006. On September 18, 2006, Cottier
pled guilty to drug conspiracy. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United
States Attorney Mara M. Kohn.
