Rapid
City Man Sentenced for Distribution of Cocaine
United
States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that on August 15, 2006,
Norton Richards of Rapid City was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen
E. Schreier to
120 months imprisonment, five years supervised release, and ordered
to pay $100 to the Victims' Assistance Fund. Richards was originally
indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2006 for Conspiracy to
Distribute Cocaine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
following an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau and Investigation
and the Alcohol, Firearm & Tobacco. The charges stem from an incident
on December 21, 2005, involving a search of the defendant and others
at a local motel in Rapid City. On August 15, 2006, Richards pleaded
guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine. This case was prosecuted
by Assistant United States Attorney Mara M. Kohn.
