United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley
announced today that on December 5, 2006, Tania Mousseau, of Pine Ridge,
was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard H. Battey to 120 months
imprisonment, five years supervised release, 100 hours of community service
and a $100 victims' assessment. Mousseau, 29, was originally indicted
by a federal grand jury in December 2005 for distribution of a controlled
substance to a person under 21 following an investigation conducted by
the BIA and the FBI. The charge stems from an incident occurring on November
17, 2005, when Mousseau gave methamphetamine to a fifteen-year-old girl.
On September 19, 2006, Mousseau pled guilty to the distribution charge.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark A.
Vargo.
