Porcupine Woman Convicted by Jury of Making a False Statement

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on November 15, 2006, Belledena White Eyes, 60, of Porcupine, was convicted by a jury in federal court of false statement. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. Jackley said the charge relates to an incident that occurred on January 3, 2006, near Porcupine when White Eyes knowingly made fraudulent statements to an FBI agent pertaining to the sexual abuse of minor children living in her home. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn G. Royce and presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Richard H. Battey. A presentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing date has been set for February 6, 2007.
