Rapid City, South Dakota
United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on October 24, 2006, Jessica Twiss, of Rushville, Nebraska, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard H. Battey to 30 months imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, $4,000 restitution and a $100 victims' assessment. Twiss, 26, was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in March, 2006, for Involuntary Manslaughter following an investigation conducted by the BIA and FBI. The charge occurred when Twiss caused the death of another person by striking her with a vehicle and leaving the scene without obtaining medical assistance for the victim. On August 1, 2006, Twiss pled guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert A. Mandel. |
