Oglala Man Sentenced 30 months for Involuntary Manslaughter
May 15, 2007
Rapid City, South Dakota

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on May 10, 2007, Wade Bagola, age 36, of Oglala, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier to thirty months imprisonment, three years supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim's Assistance Fund. Bagola was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2006 for involuntary manslaughter following an investigation conducted by the FBI. The charge stems from an incident on July 1, 2006, wherein Bagola killed Margaret Brave Heart by operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. On February 22, 2007, Bagola pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Gregg S. Peterman.
