Erskine man sentenced to 41 months for robbing
Moorhead credit union

A 47-year-old Erskine man was sentenced today in federal court to 41 months in prison in connection with the armed bank robbery of a Moorhead credit union on Aug. 20, 2007.

United States District Court Judge David Doty also sentenced David Joseph Dornbach on May 5 in Minneapolis to five years of supervised release and ordered him to pay $7,689 in restitution. Dornbach was indicted Oct. 16 with one count of armed bank robbery and pleaded guilty to the count on Dec. 6.

According to court documents, Dornbach used a knife to take $7,689 from the Affinity Plus Credit Union on Aug. 20. He entered the bank and told a bank employee that he was interested in opening an account. During a conversation, Dornbach reached over the employee’s desk while holding a knife and demanded money.

The employee gave Dornbach the cash, and he fled. He was arrested later that day in a hotel room in Fargo, N.D.

This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Moorhead Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Erika R. Mozangue.
