Batesland Man Convicted of Assault on Federal Officer Sentenced 21 Months

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that a man from Batesland convicted of assault on federal officer was sentenced on January 28, 2008 , by United States District Court Judge Karen E. Schreier. Jason Dillon, age 31, was sentenced to twenty-one months imprisonment, three years supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the victim's assistance fund. Dillon was indicted for assault on federal officer by a federal grand jury on May 22, 2007 , after assaulting a tribal officer on April 21, 2007 , near Batesland. Dillon was found guilty by a jury to the charge of assault on federal officer after a three-day trial. This case was investigated by the FBI and BIA. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mara M. Kohn. Dillon was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
