United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on January 7, 2008, Rogerio "Omar" Ramirez-Gomez, of Salt Lake City, Utah, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier to sixty-three months imprisonment, five years supervised release and a $100 victims' assessment. Ramirez-Gomez, 36, was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2005 for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute cocaine following an investigation conducted by the UNET, FBI, DEA and ATF. Jackley said the charges relate to incidents occurring between 1999 and March 2005 when Ramirez-Gomez conspired with others to distribute controlled substances near Rapid City. On September 11, 2007, Ramirez-Gomez pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark A. Vargo.
