Man Convicted of Interstate Communications

States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that Larry Jongewaard,
age 40, of Omaha, Nebraska, was convicted on February 5, 2008,
of interstate communications in violation of 18 U.S.C. §
875 as a result of a federal jury trial in Pierre. This charge
carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and/or a
$250,000 fine. The defendant was indicted by a federal grand jury
in October 2007. The charges stem from an incident involving threats
made by the suspect on the life of a Wood man. This case was investigated
by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney
Eric D. Kelderman. The defendant will be sentenced approximately
thirty days after a presentence investigation has been completed.
A presentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing date
was set for May 2, 2008. The defendant was remanded to the custody
of the U.S. Marshal.
