Wounded Knee Man Sentenced for Sex Abuse and Larceny

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced today that on January 7, 2008, Darwin Carlow, Jr., age 21, of Wounded Knee, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier to eighteen months imprisonment, five years supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim's Assistance Fund. Carlow was originally charged by information in October 2007 for sexual abuse of a minor following an investigation conducted by the FBI. The charges stem from an incident which occurred on December 27, 2006, near Pine Ridge, wherein Carlow attempted to engage in a sexual act with a child who was under the age of 16. On October 15, 2007, Carlow pleaded guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor. United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley also announced today that on January 9, 2008, Darwin Carlow, Jr., was also sentenced by U.S. District Judge Andrew W. Bogue to five months imprisonment (time served), one year supervised release, and ordered to pay $25 to the Victim's Assistance Fund. Carlow was originally indicted in July 2007 for larceny following an investigation conducted by the BIA. The charge stems from an incident which occurred on November 28, 2006, wherein Carlow stole tires and rims from another person's vehicle in a value in excess of $1,000. On October 16, 2007, Carlow pled guilty to larceny. These cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mara M. Kohn. # # #
