Allen Man Indicted for Attempting to Engage in Sexual Relations with Girl

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that a man from Allen has been indicted by a federal grand jury for attempting to engage in sexual relations with a girl under the age of 12. Anthony Poor Bear, age 41, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 20, 2008 for abusive sexual contact. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on February 27, 2008, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine, or both. The charge is merely an accusation and Poor Bear is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the FBI and Assistant United States Attorney Gregg S. Peterman is prosecuting the case. Poor Bear was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
