Man from Manderson Pleads Not Guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that a man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for assault resulting in serious bodily injury. David Charles Cuny, age 42, of Manderson, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 21, 2009. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on August 3, 2009, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is ten years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation and Cuny is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the FBI. Assistant US Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri is prosecuting the case. Cuny was temporarily remanded to the custody of the US Marshal and a detention hearing will be held in five days. A trial date has not yet been set.
