Pine Ridge Woman Indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter

Acting US Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury for unlawfully killing another person. Annie B. Miner, age 20, of Pine Ridge, was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 25, 2009, for involuntary manslaughter. She appeared before US Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on September 4, 2009, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is eight years' imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation and Miner is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the FBI and BIA. Assistant US Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri is prosecuting the case. Miner was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
