St. Paul Man Indicted for Robbing
US Bank on Payne Avenue
A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a 31-year-old St. Paul man in
connection with the September 3, 2009, robbery of a US Bank branch in St. Paul. The
indictment, filed today in federal court, charges Antoine Jackson with one count of bank
robbery, alleging he stole $1,824 from the branch located at 1000 Payne Avenue.
According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) affidavit on file with the court in
this case, on September 3, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the robber, later identified as Jackson,
walked into the bank and handed a demand note to a teller. The note read, “Give me the money
now! No! dye packs 1 min. Big bills first nothing to lose.” The back side of the note read, “U
better hope I make it out!”
After grabbing cash from the teller and stuffing it into his pocket, Jackson allegedly rushed
from the premises on foot. He was apprehended by law enforcement less than a hour later, while
hiding in someone’s yard, just three blocks from the bank. He still had the stolen money on him.
If convicted, Jackson faces a potential maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. All sentences
are determined by a federal district court judge. This case is the result of an investigation by the
St. Paul Police Department and the FBI. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States
Attorney William J. Otteson.
