Lake Police Shooting
Ralph G. Diaz,
Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Office of the FBI, today,
announced that during the course of serving a Red Lake Tribal search
warrant in the early morning hours of October 25, 2006, Red Lake Indian
Tribal Police Officers allegedly shot and mortally wounded, Louis W.
Barrett, Jr., age 20, of Red Lake, Minnesota. The Red Lake Police Department
was executing a search warrant at a residence located in the Circle
Pines area of the Little Rock District, Red Lake Indian Reservation.
Barrett was eventually transported to North Country Regional Hospital,
and was pronounced dead shortly after 7:00 a.m.

FBI is conducting a full investigation of the shooting incident and
will have no further comment at this time.
