Ralph S. Boelter,
Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis FBI office, today, announced
the arrest of Rico Lee Ayler, aka Rico Lee Johnson, age 22, of St. Paul,
Minnesota. On Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at approximately 8:30 pm MST,
FBI agents arrested Ayler inside an apartment complex located in Aurora,
Colorado. Ayler was found hiding behind a bed in a back bedroom of the
apartment. The arrest was without incident.
On December 4,
2007, a federal criminal complaint was filed in United States District
Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging Rico
Lee Johnson (charged under alias) with bank robbery for the alleged
November 21, 2007, robbery of the US Bank, located at 2299 Palmer Drive,
New Brighton, Minnesota.
Ayler will make his Initial Appearance in a Denver, Colorado federal
court later today.
This investigation
was a joint effort by the New Brighton Police Department, and the FBI.
The United States Attorney's Office, District of Minnesota is prosecuting
this case.
The charges in
a federal criminal complaint are merely an accusation and defendants
are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
