Ralph S. Boelter, Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis FBI office, today, announced the arrest of Charles Gordon Long, age 51, of Big Lake, Minnesota and Sherman Lester Lindbloom, Jr., age 47, of Big Lake, Minnesota. On Thursday, July 26, 2007, at approximately 12:00 pm, officers from the Sherburne County Drug Task Force and Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Long in the vicinity of his residence located in the 20400 block of 166th Street, Big Lake, MN. On Thursday, July 26, 2007, at approximately 4:30pm, officers from the Elk River Police Department arrested Sherman Lester Lindbloom, Jr. in the vicinity of his residence located in the 20400 block of 166th Street, Big Lake, Minnesota. Both arrests were without incident.
On July 24, 2007, a federal criminal complaint was filed in United States District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging Charles Gordon Long with bank robbery for the alleged June 1, 2007, robbery of the Associated Bank located at 9325 Upland Lane North, Maple Grove, Minnesota; the alleged June 16, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank-Cub Foods located at 13855 Rogers Drive, Rogers, Minnesota; the alleged June 25, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank-Cub Foods located at 8150 Wedgewood Lane, Maple Grove, Minnesota; the alleged July 14, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank located at 16450 County Road 30, Maple Grove, Minnesota; and the alleged July 24, 2007, robbery of the 21rst Century Bank located at 21660 Diamond Lake Road South, Rogers, Minnesota.
On July 26, 2007, a federal criminal complaint was filed in United States District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging Sherman Lester Lindbloom, Jr. with bank robbery for the alleged June16, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank-Cub Foods located at 13855 Rogers Drive, Rogers, Minnesota; and the alleged June 25, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank-Cub Foods located at 8150 Wedgewood Lane, Maple Grove, Minnesota. The complaint alleges that Sherman Lindbloom, Jr. aided and abetted Charles Gordon Long in these two bank robberies. Long and Lindbloom made their Initial Appearance in federal court Friday, July 27, 2007, and were ordered detained pending further court proceedings.
This investigation was a joint effort by the Maple Grove Police Department, Rogers Police Department, Elk River Police Department, Plymouth Police Department, Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and Drug Task Force, Big Lake Police Department and the FBI. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota is prosecuting the case.
The charges in a federal criminal complaint are merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
