Ralph S. Boelter, Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis FBI office,
today, announced the arrest of John Robert Fish, age 23 of St. Anthony, Minnesota.
On Friday, August 24, 2007, officers from the Columbia Heights Police Department
arrested Fish after a traffic stop near his residence located in the 2500
block of 37 th Avenue NE, St. Anthony, Minnesota. The arrest was without incident.
On August 24, 2007, a federal criminal complaint was filed in United States
District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging John
Robert Fish with two counts of bank robbery for the alleged August 7, 2007,
robbery of the TCF Bank located at 5205 Central Avenue N.E., Fridley, Minnesota;
and the alleged August 11, 2007, robbery of the TCF Bank, located at 250 57
th Avenue, Fridley, Minnesota. The arrest of Fish was a direct result of citizens
tips provided to law enforcement after surveillance photos of the robber were
shown on television.
Fish made his Initial Appearance in federal court on Monday, August 27, 2007.
A detention hearing was conducted in federal court on Tuesday, August 28,
2007, and Fish was released on bond.
This investigation was a joint effort by the Fridley Police Department and
the FBI. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota
is prosecuting this case.
The charges in a federal criminal complaint are merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
