The Minnesota Fugitive Task Force (MFTF) today, announced the arrest of Calvin Ferguson, age 23, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ferguson was wanted by Hennepin County authorities for felon in possession of a firearm. Ferguson is on the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Top Ten Most Wanted list. Members of the Minnesota Fugitive Task Force (MFTF) arrested Ferguson today, at approximately 12:15 pm, in an apartment located at 4036 37 th Avenue North, Robbinsdale, Minnesota. The arrest was without incident.
On March 30, 2007, a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charged Calvin Ferguson with Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. The complaint alleges that on June 27, 2006, the defendant was a front seat passenger in a vehicle that was stopped near 625 36 th Street East for a traffic violation. As officers were walking next to the car, an officer observed the defendant closing the car’s glove box. The officer observed a gun inside the glove box.
The officers recovered a 9 mm Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol. The defendant was convicted in 2003 of Burglary in the Second degree and is therefore prohibited from possessing a firearm.
On March 28, 2007, a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charged Calvin Ferguson with Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. The complaint alleges that on March 26, 2007, the Minneapolis Police were on patrol in the area of 40 th and Nicollet Avenue South. Officers recognized the defendant, Calvin Ferguson, a known member of the Bloods street gang. The defendant entered the driver’s side door of a vehicle and drove away. The officers had knowledge the defendant’s driver’s license was suspended. The vehicle was eventually stopped after being clocked at 53 M.P.H. on a city side street and after almost hitting a fire truck that had emergency lights and siren activated. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the defendant bending over as he was seated in the driver’s seat. It appeared to the officers that the defendant was “stuffing” something in the driver’s area. As officers were trying to open the glove box, a .380 caliber handgun dropped from under the dashboard onto the floor near the brake and gas pedal. The defendant was convicted in 2003 of Burglary in the Second degree and is therefore prohibited from possessing a firearm.
