The Minnesota Fugitive Task Force (MFTF) today, announced the arrest of John Christian Buttner, age 32 of Burnsville, Minnesota. On Monday, August 27, 2007, at approximately 12:00 pm, Minnesota Fugitive Task Force agents arrested Buttner outside his apartment located in the 1600 block of Cliff Road East, Burnsville, Minnesota. The arrest was without incident.
On August 21, 2007, a federal criminal complaint was filed in United States District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging John Christian Buttner with bank robbery for the alleged July 23, 2007, robbery of the US Federal Credit Union located at 1400 Riverwood Drive, Burnsville, Minnesota.
Buttner made his Initial Appearance in federal court today and was ordered detained pending further court proceedings.
This investigation was a joint effort by the Burnsville Police Department and the FBI. This arrest is a direct result of an alert Burnsville police officer recognizing the suspect who appeared in bank surveillance photos. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota is prosecuting this case.
