The Minnesota Fugitive Task Force (MFTF) today announced the arrest of Robert Gaye, age 32, of Golden Valley, Minnesota. Robert Gaye is one of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office “Top Ten Most Wanted” fugitives. Gaye was profiled this past Saturday night on America’s Most Wanted (AMW) TV show and viewer tips led to his arrest. Gaye was the first fugitive to be featured locally on Clear Channel Outdoor’s digital billboards.
Hennepin County authorities wanted Robert Gaye for Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree related to the alleged sexual assault of a nine year old girl on May 2, 2006, in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
On Sunday, April 20, 2008 , at approximately 9:00 pm CDT , members of the Phoenix FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and Glendale police officers arrested Gaye at a soccer field located in Glendale, Arizona. The Minnesota Fugitive Task Force had previously developed information that Gaye may be in the Phoenix area and passed this information on to the Phoenix FBI office. The Phoenix FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force was prepared to act on any tips received from AMW after Robert Gaye was profiled on Saturday’s show titled “Fifty Fugitives From Fifty States”.
A federal criminal complaint filed February 4, 2008, in United States District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charged Robert Gaye with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution based on a local complaint filed on May 15, 2006, in Hennepin County District Court, Minneapolis, Minnesota, charging Robert Gaye with Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree. Gaye is currently being held in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Jail awaiting extradition back to Minnesota.
