Attempted Bank Robbery in St. Paul

On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at approximately 3:20 p.m., an attempt was made by a lone individual to rob the Cherokee State Bank at 607 Smith Avenue South, St. Paul, Minnesota. The robber entered the bank, approached the victim teller, pointed a black handgun at her, and made a verbal demand for cash. When the teller did not comply with the demand, the robber fled the bank on foot without receiving any cash. He was last seen running across Smith Avenue in front of the bank.

The robber is described as a white male in his 30’s, approximately 5’8” – 6’0” tall with a slender to medium build. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, a white bandana around his neck, and a red baseball cap. This robber may be responsible for other area bank robberies as well.

Ralph S. Boelter, Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Office of the FBI, requests that anyone with information regarding this attempted bank robbery contact the Minneapolis FBI at 612-376-3200, the St. Paul Police Department, or Crime Stoppers. A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of this bank robber.
